Late last night, forces from the Beit Shemesh municipality demolished an illegal synagogue building in the Ramat Beit Shemesh H - Neve Shamir neighborhood. The building, which was built on private land, was demolished with the assistance of large municipal and police forces.

Dozens of ultra-Orthodox Jews arrived at the scene in an attempt to prevent the demolition in a noisy demonstration that continued afterward in the streets of the neighborhood.

Municipality officials said that the demolition was carried out as part of law enforcement against illegal construction.

After the demolition, at 5:00 AM, dozens of extremists arrived to demonstrate in front of the home of Mayor Shmulik Greenberg . Many police forces were called to the scene and worked to repel the extremists and keep them away from the area.
